Q. I have just found out I am pregnant, what do I do now?
A. Go to a general practitioner then be referred to an obstetrician/ gynaecologist.
Q. I think I may have Covid‐19 and I am pregnant, what do I do?
A. First of all don't panic. Take all precautionary measures, self-isolate, speak to your doctor, and arrange for Covid-19 testing to confirm.
Q. What foods should I avoid while pregnant? What foods are recommended?
A. Foods to avoid coffee, processed foods, alcohol, spices in moderation
Foods recommended: Balanced diet- high protein, fibre, vitamin, and mineral salts.
Q. What is gestational diabetes and what are the accompanying signs?
A. It is diabetes in pregnancy, that is seen in pregnant women who did not have diabetes before. Accompanying signs: (i) high blood sugar levels (ii) increased thirst (iii) increased urination.
Q. What is pregnancy-induced hypertension and what are the accompanying signs?
A. It is the development of high blood pressure in a pregnant woman from 20 weeks of gestation
Accompanying signs: (i) headache (ii) swelling of extremities (iii) blurred vision (iv) protein in the urine.
